About Us
v.v. Drienerlo is the student football association of the University of Twente. Both outdoor and indoor football are played at v.v. Drienerlo, whether recreationally or competitively. While football takes the forefront at v.v. Drienerlo, the spirit of camaraderie also holds great significance. Apart from the various forms of external (official KNVB competition) and internal football, a multitude of sideline activities are organized at v.v. Drienerlo. Of course, you can also become a member of a combination of the different forms of football. With over 400 members, v.v. Drienerlo stands as the largest student sports association in Enschede.
Field Football
v.v. Drienerlo participates in the official KNVB competitions in the Oost district. There are seven men's teams and two women's teams. The competition takes place on Saturdays for both men's and women's teams, with the exception of women's team 2 playing on Friday evenings and the Sunday men's team. The 1st team competes in the 4th class and the lowest team competes in the reserve 6th class. The 1st women's team competes in the 4th class and the 2nd women's team competes in the 7-a-side league. Each team has the opportunity to train at least twice a week for a minimum of one and a half hours. The competitive teams, also known as the selection teams (1st and 2nd), have a training obligation. For members who wish to dedicate less time to football or keep their weekends free, the option to become a training member is available. Since 2001, v.v. Drienerlo also has an internal field competition (IVC) on artificial turf. This involves playing 7-a-side matches on a half field on weekday evenings.
Futsal
v.v. Drienerlo has 4 futsal teams competing in the KNVB competition. Futsal plays a significant role within v.v. Drienerlo. The 1st futsal team competes in the Topklasse. In total, there are four teams participating in the KNVB competitions, ranging from Topklasse to the 4th class. Matches are scheduled on weekday evenings, making it a perfect complement to outdoor football on weekends. The external futsal teams (Futsal 1 to 4) train twice a week, on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Other Activities
Beyond regular training and matches, v.v. Drienerlo offers a multitude of activities. To start, v.v. Drienerlo organizes a significant number of internal (for members) and external tournaments, both on the field and in the indoor arena. Each season features two major international tournaments, drawing participants from across Europe. TISC in December is the indoor tournament, while BSIT in June caters to field teams. The DD-Cup, a futsal tournament organized in March, is dedicated to the women. Moreover, various Drienerlo teams participate in tournaments all across the Netherlands. The annual StAf-Toernooi (Study Department Tournament) is another highlight, where student associations from the University of Twente and Saxion compete. Alongside these tournaments, a variety of events are organized throughout the year, including social gatherings, mix tournaments, and Drienerlo days. The functioning of v.v. Drienerlo relies on its active members. These members engage in roles beyond football, contributing to different aspects of the association such as the board, tournament committees, technical committee, and events committee, among others.
