General
v.v. Drienerlo is the student football club of the University of Twente. v.v. Drienerlo fields both recreational and competitive teams in indoor as well as outdoor football. At v.v. Drienerlo football comes first, but fun comes a close second. For both field and indoor football we have teams competing on a regional level in competitions run by the KNVB (the Dutch football association). We also run internal competitions for teams comprised of friends, class or flat mates. There are a lot of peripheral activities, such as organising and participating tournaments and social events. It is possible to take part in a combination of the different forms of football. With more than 400 members, v.v. Drienerlo is one of the biggest sports clubs at the campus.

Outdoor football
v.v. Drienerlo participates in the KNVB-competitions in district Oost (=East). There are 6 men's teams and 2 ladies teams. All the matches, home and away, take place on Saturday. The first team plays in the 4th class of the Dutch amateur-competition and the lowest team in the 6th reserve class. The ladies teams plays in the 3rd and 4th class.
Each team has the opportunity to train 2 times a week for at least one hour and a half. The competitive teams, also called 'the selection' (1st and 2nd teams), are obliged to train. The training sessions were formerly led by Kalle Oranen, a former professional with FC Twente, but after he retired Frank Eulderink took over his position. The second team is led by Rudie Alderden.
For people who wish to spend less time on football, there is also the possibility to become a training member. This means you can train and have your weekend free to do what you like.
Since 2001 v.v. Drienerlo is organising an internal competition on artificial grass. This is a 7 a side competition and the matches are played on weekday evenings.

Indoor Football (Futsal)
With almost 40 teams, v.v. Drienerlo is the biggest indoor football club in the Twente region. That's why indoor football, also called Futsal, plays an important part within v.v. Drienerlo. 6 teams are playing in the KNVB competion, differing in level between the 'ere divisie' (only the 'topdivisie' is higher) and the 5th class. The matches always take place on weekday evenings.
Besides the KNVB-competitions, it is also possible to participate in the internal competition. This competion is only open to UT staff and students and teams are predominantly comprised of class and team mates. The matches are played on weekday evenings.
The indoor football selection, the 1st and 2nd team, trains 2 times a week. All the other teams have the possiblity to train at least once a week.

Other activities
Beside training and matches, there is a lot more to do at v.v. Drienerlo. Firstly, v.v. Drienerlo organises a couple of internal and external tournaments, indoor as well as outdoor. Each season there are 2 large international tournaments, with participants from all over Europe. The various teams of v.v. Drienerlo also participate in tournaments run by other clubs.
As well as this, a lot of different activities are organised throughout the year. These differ from playing cards to darts- and cocktail- evenings.
The life blood of v.v. Drienerlo is its active members. These are members who not only play football but are also active in the various committees of the club. Nearly all the jobs (committee tasks) are performed by students. Some of these various postions are as follows: board member, tournament organising committees, technical committees, barteam, club magazine editorial staff. New members are always welcome to apply for these interesting and fun positions.
